About The GRE Exam
The GRE general test focuses on general reasoning skills rather than specific subject knowledge, whereas The GRE Subject test focuses on the specialized programs.

Scoring: Verbal and Quant are scored between 130–170 (1-point increments). Analytical Writing is scored 0–6 (half-point increments).
Key Feature: It is section-level adaptive, meaning your performance on the first section of Verbal/Quant determines the difficulty of the second.
These are used for specialized programs (like a PhD in a specific field) to show your expertise in a particular discipline. As of now, ETS offers Subject Tests in:

Note: Subject tests are now computer-delivered and have different scoring scales (200–990)
